School Of Fashion

Terms & Conditions

How enrolment, payment, refunds and returns work at the School Of Fashion.

Enrolment

Course places are arranged with us directly and confirmed by email once payment has been received. Groups are kept small so that everyone gets attention at the machines, which means a place is only held once it has been paid for.

Where a course is full, or where we have to move a start date, we contact everyone enrolled directly to arrange the next available date.

Fees and refunds

Course fees are non-refundable. Your place is reserved from the moment it is paid for and cannot be resold once the course has started.

If you are unsure whether a course is right for you, please talk to us before paying — we would far rather help you choose correctly at the start than disappoint you later.

Payment

Payments are processed securely by Netcash. Payflex instalments are available on course fees and are subject to Payflex's own approval and terms. Your enrolment is confirmed once the payment has cleared.

Course materials and intellectual property

Patterns, block drafts, notes, illustrations and demonstrations we provide are for your own personal use. Please do not copy, resell or teach from them, and do not publish course material online.

Any garment you make during a course is yours to keep and to sell.

In the studio

Our studios contain industrial sewing machines, irons, steam and sharp tools. Please follow the instructions you are given, wear closed shoes, and tell your instructor about any injury, pregnancy or condition that affects how you work at a machine.

We may ask you to leave a class if your conduct makes the studio unsafe or unpleasant for others. In that case the fees for the course are not refundable.

Under eighteen

If the student is under eighteen, the enrolment must be made by a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on the student's behalf and is our contact for the course.

Photographs

We sometimes photograph or film classes for our website and social media. If you would rather not appear, tell us before your first class or at any time afterwards and we will remove you from anything we have not yet published and take down what we can.

Studio supplies

Kits, pattern paper and bags bought through our shop may be returned unopened and unused within seven days of collection, for an exchange. Faulty items are replaced or refunded. Cut paper and used kits cannot be taken back.

Liability

We take reasonable care in running our courses and keeping the studio safe. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from your own work, from garments or materials you bring in, or from anything outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot be excluded.

Your information

We collect your name, contact details and sewing experience to run your enrolment. How we hold that information, who processes it, and how to have it corrected or deleted is set out in our privacy and POPIA policy and in our PAIA manual.

These terms

These terms are governed by South African law. If we change them, the version on this page applies from the day it is published.
